Ohio Brush Creek Sweep Set for Saturday April 24
Contact Bill Wickerham, Adams Soil & Water Conservation District

Volunteers will take to the water on Saturday, April 24 in support of the 2010 Ohio Brush Creek Sweep.  Now in its 19th year, the Ohio Brush Creek Sweep invites volunteers to remove litter and debris from the stream via canoe while they learn from natural resource professionals who present informational programs about the stream.

Not to be confused with the Scioto Brush Creek Sweep, the Ohio Brush Creek Sweep takes place in Adams County and is held one month prior to the Scioto Brush Creek Sweep.

So What's the Difference Between Ohio and Scioto Brush Creek?
Ohio Brush Creek's headwaters begin in Highland County, then the stream wanders through Adams County until it empties into the Ohio River near Rome.  Scioto Brush Creek begins in Adams County near the village of Locust Grove, then meanders through Scioto County, draining into the Scioto River at Rushtown.  The streams' watersheds border each other, but despite having similar names, the streams are not connected.

To get involved, email Bill Wickerham at the Adams SWCD at bill.wickerham@oh.nacdnet.net or call (937) 544-5121.

Visit this link for information about the Scioto Brush Creek Sweep.

Scioto Brush Creek's Watershed is host to many rare plant and animal species.  With your help, they can be protected.
